Ok I am putting one of my previous answer which I answered for a similar kind of question. Kumarsambhav Pandey's answer to Is the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi still enjoying honeymoon period of his government?
Why do you think that Mr. Modi is destroying India ? In fact he is trying his best to build India.
Here are some key achievements, misses of Modi government's, (I am not going to mention demonetization here becuase picture of it is yet to emerge and benefits if any are yet to emerge)
=================ACHIEVEMENTS==============
Jan Dhan Yojana
Anyone can now open an account in a bank, thanks to this financial inclusion scheme. Barely a fortnight after the launch, the yojana >entered the Guiness Book of World Records for the maximum number of accounts opened in a week. The scheme is a big boost in moving towards direct subsidy transfer.
LPG subsidy reforms
Initially started as a ‘Give It Up’ campaign, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry headed by Dharmendra Pradhan >barred LPG subsidy to customers who earn more than Rs. 10 lakh per annum. The amount saved was used to give over five lakh new LPG connections to those who still use firewoods or kerosene stoves for cooking.
Swachh Bharat Mission
A pet project of Mr. Modi, sanitation ministry's Swachh Bharat mission got wide public support, especially on social media after celebrities joined the Clean India challenge. Not just stopping with cleaning the locality, the >government has taken initiatives such as building more toilets, waste management and waste segregation. Real success, will however happen, when manual scavenging is completely eradicated.
- Corporate sectors also accepted Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” and promised to fulfill this target till 2019.
India-Bangladesh land boundary agreement
When India is facing boundary disputes with every neighbour, this >agreementgives optimism that issues can be amicably solved over diplomacy. The people living in the enclaves that were recently annexed to India even exercised their franchise in the recently concluded West Bengal Assembly elections.
Bankruptcy code
At a time when bankers were grappling with huge rise in non-performing assets and government eyeing to create more entrepreneurs, >the amendment of existing bankruptcy laws was necessary. With the support from Congress, the law was passed in Rajya Sabha during the Budget Session where the ruling party was short of numbers.
Digital India
This flagship programme of Ravi Shankar Prasad's Communications Ministry aiming to create a knowledge economy and good governance is travelling in the right path. Every minister and every ministry is now on Twitter. A slew of e-governance measures like digital locker and feedbacks through >mygov.in are some notable initiatives .
Minimum Government – Maximum Governance
The main aim of the government is not to be there and run up the bills on the money of the tax payers – but to govern! And the best governance is when there is minimal government but efficient in its work. And that is a major metric by which any government should be evaluated. How many Ministers are used and what output they give for their effort?
Let us look at this metric. Modi government has 65 Ministers compared to Dr. Manmohan Singh’s 2nd Ministry with 80. That’s 20% less. The work obviously has been more – which we shall see later. But here is a visual of the Minimum government and Maximum governance.
This has the obvious cost savings.
The difference of 25 ministers would immediately relieve at least 375 government officials, employed as personal staff of these ministers. The estimated amount of money saved by each minister would be around rs one crore every year and thus 25 ministers would save Rs 25 crore every year compounding to Rs125 crore in five years. The breakdown of the annual Rs one crore saving would be more than Rs 65 lakh withdrawn as salary of 15 employees, Rs si...
Yes I agree with you and also with some of my friends who share the same opinion.
Why my friends feel Narendra Modi is destroying India ?
- My friend was black money holder. Narendra Modi's demonetization destroyed him, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend was an urea smuggler. Narendra Modi started coating urea with neem, which makes it unusable for the chemical factories, which destroyed him again, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend was a drug peddler and was an prostitution agent. Narendra Modi's demonetization almost closed all his illegal routes of channeling money, which destroyed him again, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend was a stone peltor in Kashmir. Narendra Modi's demonetization affected his earnings from pelting stones, which completely destroyed his life, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend had links with some terror camps in POK. Indian army's surgical strikes under Narendra Modi's supervision killed his links in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend is a Chinese, he wanted to support Pakistan for which India should keep their mouth shut. But Narendra Modi is trying to destroy all his plans, so he feels Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My friend was a PM earlier, who wanted poor people to be away from banks and digitalisation, but Narendra Modi's Jan dhan account and Digital India scheme completely destroyed his reputation, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India. (Now don't ask me whether my friend was wearing a raincoat in the bathroom).
- My friend was head of one of the most uneducated family in India which owns a political party. Narendra Modi destroyed his career and his dreams of becoming yuvaraj of the country and turned him to a joker, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India. (Now don't ask me whether my friend's name is Raul Vinci or whether he has any connections with Italy).
- My friend was running an NGO, now he is in one of the most respected position. He had a bad habit of gifting a sewing machine and Rs 10k cash to the rapists, but Narendra Modi doesn't entertain these stunts which destroyed the popularity of his stunts, so he feels Narendra Modi is destroying India. (Now don't ask me whether my friend coughs with a muffler around).
Edit-1: I forgot to mention about some of my other friends.
- My friends (old politicians, bureaucrats) who were no where related to present government were staying in the prestigious Lutyens bungalow from many years. But Narendra Modi asked them to vacate Lutyens bungalow if they were not related to any job in the government, destroying their life temporarily. So they think that Narendra Modi is destroying India.
- My another friend is a chief minister of a state (Which holds the name west being in east). She is an expert in fooling people with her paragon chappals and white saree and she is an expert in making black money through chit fund companies like Sharda, Rose valley etc. I repeat again etc.. Suddenly on November 8 all her black money was destroyed by Narendra Modi's demonetization. She had gone mad for 15 days. So she thinks that Narendra Modi is destroying India. (Now don't ask me whether my friend is DD or Ban-her-ji)
- My 30 year old friend was/is/will be pursuing PhD in JN*, Delhi. He was busy shouting anti-national slogans in the campus to gain the attention of Narendra Modi like immatured kid. But Narendra Modi kept silent, which destroyed his illogical ideas and his throat, so he thinks Narendra Modi is destroying India. (Now don't ask me whether his name starts with K or U).
Hope you are not one among my friends.
In no case Modi is destroying India. In fact he is working for India's benefit only.
- Under him foreign relations of India with its neighbors have improved much well. Everyone saw it's affect when almost all South Asian countries boycotted SAARC conference in Pakistan after Uri Attack.
- He has brought FDI in almost all sectors. He has made some daring decisions like demonetization even after knowing it could hamper its political prospects.
- Under his leadership first time in Indian history Indian Army is not defensive. It is double aggressive to ceasefire violations.
- Surgical strikes by India in Pakistani occupied territory never occurred before. Only due to Modi's support it was possible.
- America has made it easy for transfer of technology and arms sale to India only due to PM's efforts.
- There has not been any riots. Unlike Muzzafarnagar and Assam riots during UPA Government.
- You might not be knowing that when UPA Government left Indian Army had only 10 Days War Reserves, which has now increased to 30 days due to recent off the shelf purchases made by India from Israel and Russia.
- “Make in India” is the biggest initiative of his. It is yet to kick start in full force. But it has undoubtedly laid the foundations for major industrial set up in India. Eg. Foxconn factory in Maharashtra and Apple manufacturing plant soon to be started in Bengaluru.
- His “Clean India” Initiative has made India more beautiful. It has lead to huge reduction in open defecations in India.
- His Government properly demarcated the border along Bangladesh which will help to stop illegal infiltration.
To say our PM is intentionally trying to destroy India is bit farfetched. But it is fact that Narendra Modi is not as good when compared to social media hype that crown him as the savior of India.
The hype, of course, remains overwhelming as does the spin. But that's the Modi style, and you need to factor it in when forming any opinion. Take the issue of the Indian entry to the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).
India becomes a member of MTCR: PM Modi's big diplomatic success" read a headline. Actually, what happened was that the moment the Supreme Court allowed the sole remaining of the two Italian marines held on murdering two Indian fishermen off the coast of Kerala in 2012 to go back home two weeks ago pending his trial, the Italian government withdrew its objection on India's MTCR membership.
Social media may give us the notion that India has changed drastically in these 2.5 years. But the real picture is something else.
- India’s unemployment rate highest in 5 years in 2015-16 (demonetization has further escalated the figure)
- Communal violence up 17% in 2015 - Times of India (communal violence witnessed a 17% rise in 2015, with 751 incidents recorded across the country as against 644 in 2014)
- Slogan: "India First".
Reality: The Prime Minister has delivered more speeches in Parliaments abroad, than in the Lok Sabha of which he is a member.
- Slogan: "No more tax terrorism".
Reality: The government inflicted tax demands on entire new categories of victims, shaking investor confidence. Foreign funds have withdrawn $550 million from India in the first half of May alone, a dubious record.
- Slogan: "Responsible government".
Reality: Despite draconian measures and targets, the Government missed the revised tax collection target for both direct and indirect taxes by Rs. 2,288 crore in the financial year 2014-15.
- Slogan: "Make in India".
Reality: Manufacturing rate of growth under UPA, May 2014: 5.6%. Manufacturing rate of growth under NDA, April 2015: 2.1%.
- Slogan: "We will create jobs for our youth."
Reality: Number of Indians entering the job market each month: 10 lakh. Number of new jobs created by UPA April-June 2014: 1.82 lakh. Number of new jobs created by Modi government October-December 2014: 1.17 lakh.
- Slogan: "Indian businesses will thrive."
Reality: India's merchandise exports shrank for the fifth consecutive month in April 2015. Merchandise exports last month were 14% lower than the $25.6 billion in April last year, and imports fell 7.5% to $33 billion, leaving a trade deficit of $11 billion, according to commerce ministry data.
- Slogan: "We will build India."
Reality: The total value of tenders issued in 2014-15 (across infrastructure sectors) stood at Rs. 395,300 crore, a 23 per cent decline from the previous year under UPA. The problem of weak tendering affected railways, highways, real estate, water supply and the irrigation sector.
- Slogan: "We will build roads that UPA couldn't."
Reality: The Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) got a budgetary allocation of only Rs. 14,291 crore for 2015-16. According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the state governments require Rs. 57,206 crore just to complete pending road-building projects already sanctioned. The budget won't cover a quarter of that, let alone new roads.
- Slogan: "Jan Suraksha".
Reality: Social-sector spending as a percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) has fallen to its lowest levels since 2010 - and that's not even taking into account five years of inflation since then. Budgets for health, education, sanitation and women's security - all major talking points of the BJP's election campaign - have been savagely slashed. Central schemes remain on paper but are now unfunded or grossly underfunded.
- Slogan: "Jan Dhan Yojana".
Reality: 60% of the new Jan Dhan Yojana accounts had zero balance(demonetization have changed it, as it was misused).
- Slogan: "Sab Ka Saath, Sab Ka Vikas".
As sculptor must destroy rock to bring out the sculpture within, Narendra Modi plays tough regarding his objectives. That’s why I’d prefer seeing him as part of his own creation: “Margdarshak Mandal”. As Prime Minister when he’s shaping India, the annoying thing is his own bhakts sometimes lack self-discipline, that he consciously neglects as he’s already doing all the work that can be done in 24 hours’ days. Personal opinions aside, at the end of the day, the Prime Minister’s job is so crucial, that whatever gets the job done is all that matters.
To first clarify, I am not one of those who blindly admire and follow Narendra Modi but based on the facts I must say that he has played way better than some other politicians in the country. So, I personally believe that blaming Modi for the “DESTRUCTIVE INDIA” is not justified, looking at the positive developments and changes that he has bought to our society.
Let us look at some of the facts that highlights his tenure as the Prime Minister of India since May 2014. Now if we compare the period between March 31, 2014 and March 31, 2016, here is what we can see:
1) FDI increased to $40 billion as of March 31, 2016 compared to $24.3 billion during March 31, 2014. Per Moody, a leading ratings agency, the net foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows in India were highest in 2016, reflecting the success of 'Make in India' campaign launched by Modi. Moreover, the FDI inflows in the country has helped to reduce the current account deficit (CAD) for the first time since 2004. With more money coming to the country, the companies will provide increase job opportunities to meet higher targets.
2) GDP grew by 7.6% in March 31, 2016 compared to 6.6% in March 31, 2014 and India was thus recognized as the fastest growing economy in Asia.
3) Average customer inflation reduced to almost half to reach 4.91% in March 31, 2016 from 9.46% in March 31, 2014.
4) Fiscal deficit as a percentage of GDP decreased by 0.5% points to 3.9% in 2016 from 4.4% in 2014.
Moreover, other well-thought initiates helped to bring some significant developments to the country. For instance, the Jan Dhan Yojana simplified the process of opening a bank account for any individual in the country. To provide over five lakh new LPG connections to people who use firewoods or kerosene stoves for cooking, the government barred LPG subsidy to customers who earn more than Rs. 10 lakh per annum. Most importantly, it is Modi who drove the digital transformation in the country’s political space. Most of the ministers in the Modi government use social platforms like Twitter that has helped the common man to register a complaint without going through a complicated yet “not-so-entertained” procedure. The government also launched MyGov: A Platform for Citizen Engagement towards Good Governance in India where people can submit their feedback or suggestions and has thus helped to bridge the gap between “people” and the “government”
Looking at all the above facts, I believe that Modi government has helped to strengthen India’s economy. And from the factual perspective I do not see any “destruction” happening in the country, but if we fail to support such initiatives and criticize for all the growth Modi has brought to the country, he will “STOP” and this my friend will be destructive.
OK, as per you and other opposition leaders, lets assume that Modi ji is destroying India which is totally spread by opposition parties as their future is at sake, but do you have any replacement for Modi ji.
- Akhilesh Yadav : Being a resident of the capital city of UP, Lucknow, I know what type of gundaraj is there in lucknow in this government. All the scripted family drama is not going to save them in UP on 11th March.
- Rahul Gandhi : Veteran politician Shiela Dixit mentioned him as immature, moreover you can check yourself by checking the you tube speeches of the Yuvraj of Congress, you will get to know the mental level of this idiot.
- Arvind Kejriwal : Well he is a black spot on politics and nothing can be expected from him.
You may compare other leaders too and their history and what they did when they were in power.
Everyone is trying their level best to settle their son, wife, daughter in law etc. (Tejaswi Yadav : Lalu's son Tej Pratap fumbles during oath taking, forced to read again )
Whereas Modi g is an inspiration to many and we all love him from the bottom of our heart.
Very Much Biased Question. There are number of policies which are best by Mr. Modi but similarly Other PM. For example foreign policy[1] was initiated by PM PV Narsimha Rao was taken forward by Mr. Vajpayee and then by Mr. Manmohan Singh and Now same policies are taken further step ahead by Mr. Narendra Modi. Indian foreign policy developed over a period of time[2] . That doesn’t make Mr. Modi as pioneer of Foreign policy but still blind followers project the same. That is problem of People not Politicians. In politics its duty of Mr. Modi to criticise Congress to keep BJP in power (Congress done the same when they were in power).
The problem with us is “We Indian think in black and White manner, Whereas politics and politicians are in Shades of Grey.” Some policies are really great by the NDA government where some were really great by UPA. But that Black and white mentality render thoughts to backwards. They either critise one UPA blindly and support NDA or vice versa. The\is time 90% media is paid media thats why is presstitute.
Now this is modern era where we have to think out of box and identify right and wrong. Appreciate RIGHT and Criticise WRONG. Not based on Media (NEWS or Social media) but keep yourself as example. Just live life of poor before commenting on government policy on poor. Just live life of solider before commenting on surgical strike. Just live life of common man before commenting on common man. In short truth always come when you think out of YES and NO which is ‘MAY BE’.
Footnotes
Dude you are not going to get genuine answers of this question on Quora because most of the people here are just blind followers of Mr.MODI.Below are the points which I truly feel that MODI has neglected and nowadays he is just involved in making his party superior to other ones.
- Education: Wow!Indeed Mr.MODI has surely done wonders in this field like all the rest of the congress ministers did in the past.Has he curbed the reservation in education?.No.Same did the congress ministers. So has our country improved-A big NO. Just tell me how many Indians have won Nobel prizes in India in the scientific field-Just one Mr. C.V Raman and that too before independence when there were not too many technical institutes across India like what we have today one IITs or NITs in almost every state. So has India improved Yes India has improved because undeserved ones are getting the place of deserved ones.
- ELECTIONS: Nowadays I see the ad like Make BJP win with full support because there are hell lot of women safety issues in Uttar Pradesh. My question is Has it entirely stopped in Indian regions where there are already BJP government. Is women safety not an issue in regions where there are already BJP government.? Let me give you the example of Maharashtra:This is from 2016 stating the difference in BJP government when Mr.Fadavnis took Oath in October 2014.
Surely rape cases decreased in Maharashtra in BJP rule.Sarcasm over. No sort of development even in this field.I would like to remind Mr. MODI the following quotes:
So Mr.MODI should first try to improve states where there are already BJP government. And a PM is for whole India not only for particular states so he should not just support his party,he should support for the welfare of the people.
3. Amit Shah’s speech: First of all if you watch India TV then please don't read ahead. It's purely a biased news channel. Amit Shah told in Aap ki Adalat recently that People should vote for BJP in Uttar Pradesh because we will give free educations and laptops upto graduations to students securing above 50% in +2 exams like we did in Maharashtra. I am still waiting to get laptops as well as my graduation fees for first year back.
4. Mallya: Has he been arrested ?Or maybe he has been kept in remand but I am unaware of it.
5. Election Strategy:
There are hell lot of things which are making fool out of people but I can't list of all of them. But surely India hasn't improved even a slight whether be it Congress or BJP(No change). And to those who are saying that demonization is good let me tell you one thing that there is a Municipal Corporator in our locality whose daughter’s marriage was on 28th November 2016 and mind it it was during demonization period when there were lakhs of people standing in the queues to get 2000Rs. The Corporator did spend as much as 60 lakhs on just wedding arrangements which include the hall, catering ,decorations. From where did that money come especially during demonization. I live the rest on you.
- Question should be reframed.
You cannot accept a baseless idea and frame a question based on that idea being the ultimate truth.
I have seen this types of questions being followed in Quora by Indians. And worst of all: Quora is cool with it. I had reported such questions many a times and the result is: more of such questions.
This is a degrading question.
I believe the person who has asked this question is:
- Unaware of the world. Aka, living under the rock.
- Willfull to enjoy an internet war over Quora.
This is utterly disgusting.
If you are truly the first kind, please reframe the question.
Reframed question:
Is Modi destroying India, in any account?
Now compare with the question:
Why is Modi destroying India?
I hope you are getting the contrast. One has a sceptical tone and the other, a subtle condescending tone.
